The tests required in TIA/EIA-IS-968 include Telephone Line Surge, Type A and B, and Power Line Surge as described in Paragraph 68.302. Compliance West USA has surge equipment that will generate the waveform required for each of these tests.
The MegaPulse 968 series is designed to test Terminal Equipment and Protective Circuitry in accordance with Paragraph 68.302. Output voltages are tailored to the specification. An optional BNC oscilloscope output is available on all models.
MegaPulse Telephone Metallic Type A:
Designed to generate the surge test described in Clause 68.302B Telephone Line Surge - Type A - (1) Metallic, Note (b)(1). Output voltage 800 volts minimum, peak short circuit current is 100A minimum. A switch is provided for reversal of output polarity. Optional divider network available for oscilloscope connection.
Waveform generated is 10x560/10/560, Vp= 800V. To test, the front panel voltage meter is set to 800V.
MegaPulse Telephone Longitudinal Type A:
Designed to generate the surge test described in FCC Part 68 Clause 68.302B Telephone Line Surge - Type A - (1) Metallic, Note (b)(2). Peak voltage is 1500 volts minimum, peak short circuit current is 200A minimum. A switch is provided for reversal of output polarity. Optional divider network available for oscilloscope connection.
The waveform generated is 10x160/10x160, Vp=1500V. To test, the front panel voltage meter is set to 1500V.
MegaPulse Telephone Type B:
Designed to generate the surge test described in Clause 68.302(c) Telephone Line Surge - Type B - (1) Metallic, Note (c)(1), as well as the (2) Longitudinal, Note (c)(2). Output voltage is variable up to 1500 volts minimum, peak short circuit current is 25A minimum at 1000V peak, and 37.5A minimum at 1500V peak. A switch is provided for reversal of output polarity. Optional divider network available for oscilloscope connection.
The waveform generated is 9x720/5x320, Vp=1500V. For metallic testing, the front panel voltage is set to 1000V; for longitudinal testing, the front panel voltage is set to 1500V.
MegaPulse Power Line:
Designed to generate the surge test described in Clause 68.302(d) Power Line Surge. Output voltage is 2500 volts minimum, peak short circuit current is 1000 amperes minimum. A switch is provided for reversal of output polarity. Optional divider network available for oscilloscope connection. This MegaPulse tester has isolated outputs; that is, no ground reference.
The waveform generated is 2x10/2x10, Vp=2500V. To test, the front panel meter is set to 2500V.
A coupling/decoupling network is required to provide isolation between the DUT, the MegaPulse Power Line and the mains power when the pulse is applied. We can supply our CDN 240/15, built to the requirements of EN61000-4-5 and for use on single phase circuits up to 240Vac and up to 15 amps.
