Borescope/ Optical Inspection

Borescope/ Optical Inspection

Borescopes are used for inspection work where the area to be inspected is inaccessible by other means or potentially dangerous. The flexible camera probes can be used to peer into a cylinder head for inspection of engine damage or to check behind a wall for insect infestation.

Video Borescopes are an advanced type of borescope that deliver high-resolution video images to a small portable monitor. A very small CCD chip is embedded into the tip of the scope and is used for visual (video) inspection. The images displayed on the monitor are rich in detail and quality and can be captured for future reference. Most video borescopes also allow for the direct capturing of images and video to a memory card.

Some common applications include the visual inspection of aircraft engines, aeroderivative industrial gas turbines, steam turbines, diesel engines and automotive/truck engines.
